  • Overview

    This position comes with wide-ranging responsibilities, including serving as a writer, copy editor, and digital marketer. Reporting to the Director of Communications and Marketing, the Manager will be responsible for website copy, emails, e-newsletters, and additional digital and print communications materials. The Manager will contribute to multi-media story-telling and social media efforts.


    Primary Responsibilities include:

    • Work with Director to develop a balanced mix of stories and topics. Write and edit news stories and features for the ATS News, ATS Stat, Morning Minute, and ATS Daily Bulletin e-newsletters and—as needed—the ATS International Conference Daily Bulletin online and print newspaper, and develop website content where necessary. Work with department contacts, sources, graphic designers, IT members, freelancers, and vendors to ensure completion. Oversee the deployment of newsletter content (soup to nuts). 
    • Assist in the coordination of targeted promotion of the ATS International Conference, Membership, educational materials, documents, ATS journals, ATS Foundation, and patient information materials to members and non-members via newsletters, website copy, email messages, print and digital advertisements, and social media campaigns. 
    • Coordinate and assume primary responsibility for video interviews of ATS members for various audio and video projects. 
    • Collaborate with the Social Media Manager and/or Designers in expanding the Society’s multi-media engagement efforts on existing and new social media platforms. Work with the Director and other members of the staff to develop and implement branding and other marketing efforts and create new ones.


    The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or related degree required.
    • Minimum 3 years of previous public relations, publications, or marketing experience.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop strong relationships with staff members, Society members, vendors, clients, and various partners.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills required. (Writing samples and writing tests required.)
    • HTML experience required. Content management system and email client involve considerable front-end coding/developer skills.
    • Superior copy editing and proofreading skills, with a keen eye for detail. Excellent organizational skills.
    • Superb time management skills, and flexibility in planning daily work schedule.
    • Ability to multitask and maintain a fast-paced routine while being collegial.
    • Proficiency in Word and Excel required. Familiarity with Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, HootSuite, Salesforce, Google Analytics and AdWords a plus.
    • Willingness and ability to travel to relevant events to represent the ATS.
